ZEM BENN 46th Zemianek Bennington Road Race, Sunday, May 3, 2026 RACE RESULTS 2026 This traditional Spring run in beautiful North Bennington, Vermont has returned. Two distances from which to choose, 3.8 mile and 10k. You will enjoy the course and the friendly competition. Proceeds support the Steve Zemianek MAU Scholarship, BKVR Scholarships and Park McCullough House. IN SUPPORT OF OUR LOCAL FOOD BANKS: Non-perishable food items will be collected on race day to distribute to the Bennington area food banks. We thank you in advance for any food donations you may bring. LOCATION : Park McCullough House, 1 Park Street, North Bennington, VT 05257 COURSE: The 10K course will run through scenic rural countryside, along the Walloomsac River, and through a covered bridge (twice)! The 3.8-mile course is a loop on quiet country roads with rolling hills. AWARDS : Prizes to the top three overall male and female finishers of each distance as well Prize for the top walker. Zem special remembrance for: Top 3 male and female from 12 and under in 10-year age groups at 3.8 mile, Top 3 male and female from 19 and under in 10-year age groups at10 k. Raffle prizes during Awards ceremony. Must be present to win. STUFF : T-shirts guaranteed for those registered by April 16 . BKVR Zem Benn visors for entrants on race day on a first come basis. STEPS TOWARD HOME https://stepstowardshome.com/ June 13, 2026 5k, 12, and Kids run River Road by the West Arlington covered bridge and church Arlington, VT STEPS TOWARD HOME 5k, 12k and Kids Run The Steps Towards Home Run is being organized by the Arlington Memorial High School Community Service Club. It is a fundraiser to benefit Bennington County youth in foster care. Often when children first enter the foster system, all of their belongings are placed in garbage bags which can make them feel like garbage. Proceeds from the race and donations will be used to purchase and supply suitcases with fresh clothes, a teddy bear, and a note to help youth feel supported as they enter the most difficult time of their life. Notes from our last Club Meeting BKVR Meeting 4/15/2026 – 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm Zoom Present: Judy Orton, Ruth Jones, Gail Wood, Jenn Sharpe, Pat Zemianek, Kathy Zemianek, Tim VanOrden, Anita Gabalski Review of Minutes: 2/24/25 – approved Membership Status: Membership is up to 38 including a new family. Treasurer’s Report: Balance as of 3/31/26 is 16,335.60 plus the new memberships. Race Updates: ZemBenn – 5/3/26: details of the race were discussed Venue: Park McCullough has been secured and needed items (tables, chairs, microphone, trash receptacles) will be available the morning of the race. May need to use the bathrooms in the carriage barn. Tents will be provided by BKVR. Some furniture on veranda will need to be moved. Registration: a) BKVR website has been updated; online registration available. As of meeting date there are 22 registered plus one kid. b) Question if Mike emailed past participants to encourage registration. Race Promotion: Race is being promoted in USA Running as a premium listing; Upstate Sports, Vermont Sports and shared on Facebook. Prizes: Amy Chambers is donating maple syrup. The group agreed on the green cooling towel for the age group prize. Volunteers: Some course marshal spots need to be filled. Food: Green Mountain Pediatrics will donate up to $75. Cups will be used not bottles. Water jugs will be at the bridge, finish line and refreshment area. The usual bananas, oranges, bagels and cream cheese will be available. Members are encouraged to bring homemade goods. Shirts: Kathy will work with Crae on ordering. Entrants must be registered by April 16 for a guaranteed shirt. Sponsors: Letters have been sent out to several businesses. Judy will check with Henry’s and L’il Britain. Pat will check with Madison’s. Timing: Tim has developed his own Timing System which will be made available at no cost to BKVR. He will also mark the Start/Finish with tape. Steps Toward Home The race date has been changed to June 13th. One sponsor to date. Scholarships: Two – three have been received. The deadline to apply is April 30. Decision will be made in early May. Moonlight and Other Runs: There are two full moons in May; the 1st and the 31st. The group decided to have the full moon run closer to the 31st. VT Walk/Bike Summit – A reminder this event is being held in Bennington this year. BKVR is a sponsor. Members were invited to attend if possible. Track Shoe Funding: Dara Zink had approached group members to determine if BKVR could be a resource for helping students get running shoes. The group agreed this is a good cause but would probably work best partnering with the school nurses and coaches. A spreadsheet could be developed to keep track of shoes available. BKVR Equipment Rental The BKVR supports running and racing on the roads and trails of this beautiful region. We organize group runs and races and help support other organizations that sponsor running events. The BKVR owns a digital clock that is available to Race Directors of BKVR sponsored events as well as non-BKVR events. The policy for the use of the clock is as follows: There is no fee for the use of the clock by BKVR members. There is a flat fee of $50.00 for the rental of the clock for non-BKVR events, payable in advance to BKVR.. The clock must be accompanied by a BKVR member when rented for a non-BKVR event. The BKVR does NOT provide race timing services. The rental of the clock does not include timing services. For additional information about the use of the clock you may contact the BKVR President by emailing your request to the B KVR President.

This family friendly race normally begins at Fisher Elementary School in Arlington, VT each Thanksgiving morning. Looking forward to in person racing and comradery in 2025. 2025 Online Registration Race Date: November 2 7, 2025 Start Time: 9:00 am for 5k; 8:45 am Kid's Race Location : Fisher Elementary Registration : (paper registration form) . In-person registration is available during packet pick up Wednesday night, November 26, 2025 at Fisher Elementary gymnasium from 5:30 - 6:30 pm and on day of race, November 27, but closes at 8:30 am. Onsite registration requires check or cash preferred please. You may pay on our website (additional processing fees) br ing proof of payment AND your completed registration form. **Please note, dogs, strollers and headphones are strongly discouraged due to requirements from RRCA. Strollers must start at the back of the pack. There is a 5 minute wait before runners with dogs will be allowed to run on a short 4' lead. Turkey Stuff: 30th anniversary commemorative short sleeve cotton blend t-shirt to the first 200 entrants in the 5K run and walk registered BY NOVEMBER 1 .
